WALKS AND TALKS PROGRAMME 2022 – SUMMER UPDATE

Saturday 6th August pm

Moorland Walk in the Western Brecon Beacons: Arosfa Garreg Roman marching camp and ruined ‘longhouses’.

Leader Heather James

Meet at the car park at ‘Pont ar Wysg’ (SN 819269) at the junction of the forestry and open moorland on the minor road from Trecastle (Brecs.) to Twynllanan (Carms). We will then ferry people to the western end of the road across the open moorland – there is only space there to park a few cars – and then begin the walk from there to Arosfa Garreg, follow the ramparts down to the Afon Llechach and ford, search for some longhouses and then return to the road and cars via Cwm Holdfast. People will then be ferried back to their cars at the Pont ar Wysg car park.

Stout footwear for some rough ground and crossing small streams, water, suncream but also waterproofs, essential.

Map: OS Landranger 160 Brecon Beacons/Bannau Brycheiniog., or OS 1:25000 Outdoor Leisure Map 12.

Duration: a walk of about 3 hours long and some 4 km.

Please ‘book’ your place by emailing Heather at h.james443@gmail.com, or 01267 231793 or by text on 07933762970. You will be told the meeting time when you book.
