Huw’s Presidential Address is entitled “The Age of the Welsh Princes: An Environmental Perspective” and presents a thoughtful analysis on the recovery and reinvention of dynasties following the initial shock of early Norman conquests in the late 11th and early 12th centuries, down to the extinction of native rule by Edward I, and how environmental factors concerning the lands which were ruled over by the Welsh princes helped both to sustain, and constrain, their power.
